Seasoned Lovers: Surviving the Salt of Hollywood & Pepper of Celebrity!!

A successful black couple, that lasts longer than five years, is rare.  A successful black couple, that lasts longer than five years, in Hollywood, is really rare.  And the successful marriage, that lasts longer than five years in Hollywood, is extremely rare.  But that successful BLACK marriage, which lasts longer than ten years in Hollywood, is much too rare to not highlight.  Today, I gotta pay homage to some seasoned lovers.  And hopefully, formulate a good guess 'timation on how their relationships survived the salt & pepper of the lifestyle, this long. 

  One thing I can see from jump: All of the women listed here, use their husbands last name professionally.  Not sure how important that is, but some might find that interesting for professional women of Hollywood.  And the other similarity with all of the couples listed, is that all have more than one child together. Honestly, outside of the fact that every veteran couple listed here, are fairly good friends, their longevity is really relationship based.

Vanessa Bell Calloway is quickly approaching 25 years of marriage to her successful husband, Dr. Anthony Calloway. Yes, I know; hard to imagine, but our Coming to America darling is growing up!(tear, tear) Outside of the fact that he's a super successful Hollywood anesthesiologist, and they have two beautiful (GORGEOUS!!) daughters in college, this sexy couple never over-shares the personals of their relationship.  Maybe that's the key to their longevity.

Holly Robinson Peete is another superstar, who's DOB might make one DOA!!  Gorgeous!!  But unlike the Calloway's, she and retired NFL quarterback, Rodney Peete, share their world with the...WORLD!!  Holly and Rodney Peete are like America's real life TV Mom and Dad.  They openly share their family's triumphs and also their trials.  And their charities are one of the most popular throughout the world.  Maybe sharing their experiences are the key to their relationship longevity.  You never know!

Duane and Tisha Campbell- Martin have been the subject of the world's greatest relationship rumor mill since the start of their union.  But can you blame the world, though. They're a sexy couple.  He's been a little prettyboi since he started in the acting game, and every dude and his brotha wanted them some Tisha Campbell, since "School Daze" and "House Party". So the rumors are understandable. Key to their relationship longevity, though...not sure.  Maybe it's the fact that they're also business partners in many ventures.  And the additional fact that their both comedians can't hurt, either.  But you never know what can be that superglue in another's relationship.  Could be something big, small, or personal.  You never know!

Jada and Will Smith, are by far, the poster children for Black Love.  Even though they've been married a shorter period than every couple listed, their 15 year marriage sparked a new flame of possibilities for young black Hollywood.  Their names have been listed in countless songs, ads, TV shows and movies, as a STANDARD to reach in relationship bliss.  Not sure what their key to longevity is, though.  Just like with the Martins, their beauty and success attracts many rumors.  I will say, however, that both Jada and Will have a love for music.  That could be a plus.  And the fact that their children are coming of age superstars who need the guidance of both industry parents, may help as well.  But you never know, for real. 



And honestly, with any successful couple, famous or otherwise; the popular saying stands true:  Standards are an illusion; for what's standard for the spider, is chaos for the fly!  Remember that!
